My pastel portrait of Pierre Bonnard was inspired by his vivid use of color and his beautiful interior scenes, often looking out through a window. Bonnard was a member of the Les Nabis group of artist ( who considered themselves prophets of modern art) as was Edouard Vuillard. Les Nabis admired the work of Paul Gauguin using flat patches of color. Bonnard was known as an Intimist for his domestic interiors.

Bonnard like intense colors combining colors in a way that created great intensity.
